Ideal Home: Riley would love a home with hoomans who want to spend time with him, he wants to be a best buddy. He ADORES kids but is still a pup and does get excited so a home with kids that are a bit older would be ideal (8+). A home with another dog would be fab but isn't a necessity and Riley is currently in a foster home with a cat and could be adapted to a home with a cat if introduced correctly and sensibly. Riley is currently in a foster home on a lifestyle block so has also been introduced to chooks, pigs and stock - while they're a bit scary at first, he's learning fast! He's a smart boy and picks things up very quickly but he's also a very soft natured boy so a gentle but firm hooman would be great for him. Being a Lurcher type, he does get excited about life and loves to zoom but also has an amazing "off-switch" so once it's time to chill, he's good with that. Riley is able to be home by himself during the day but wouldn't complain if his hooman was around during the day with him too.
Riley came into our care from the pound after being found abandoned by Animal Control at approx 12 weeks old. He was pretty skinny and scared at first but he's now learning all about life in a family and he's loving it!
Riley is a soft natured athletic boy, who is still learning all about the world. He's a very smart cookie who is quickly learning all the good things any growing pupper should know to become a good member of doggy society - this is of course something his new forever hoomans would need to continue with as he is still a baby. He is a lovebug who adores his hoomans - especially kids - we think a home with kids over 8 would be best. He has an absolutely gorgeous personality and is such a great guy to have around.
His foster mum says: "Riley's a very soft natured, bouncy goofball with the best off switch I've ever encountered. He's an active breed so needs activity but also loves to switch off and sleep all day."
Riley is a smart boy, picking up new commands very quickly, he's house trained, is crate trained, sleeps through the night and is learning basic manners. He's in a foster home on a lifestyle block without children but has had sleep overs at another foster home with kids and absolutely adored them. He is in a foster home with 2 other adult dogs, a cat, stock, pigs, horses and chickens. He has learnt the hard way that you don't mess with the chooks. We think he would be fine in a home with a cat that is dog savvy, with proper introductions of course.
Riley will need hoomans prepared to continue his learning and socialisation and willing to teach him all the good things a puppy should know in order to be a great member of doggy society. We recommend researching the Lurcher type of dog - Lurchers are wonderful, loving, very loyal family members but they are not for everyone.
Riley must be allowed to live inside the home so he can be a real member of the family.
If you can provide Riley with a fully fenced and secure property, quality food, regular flea and worm treatments, a comfy and warm bed, a comfy couch to nap on and most of all lots of love for the rest of his days, click on the apply to adopt button and complete the application form.
Thanks for checking out handsome guy Riley's profile! We cant wait to help him find his forever hoomans, could that be you?
