Who is Pound Hounds Rescue?
We work together with the Waipa District Council primarily as well as other pounds in the North Island, to find homes for the increasing number of dogs relinquished to Animal Control in the Waipa area and beyond. Here at Pound Hounds Rescue, the dogs that come into our care are solely Pound dogs. We bring these dogs into foster homes where they are cared for whilst being placed up for adoption into their forever homes.
It is thanks to the community support we receive from fundraising, donations and volunteers that we are able to take in and care for our "Poundies".
We also have community clinics available, advocating the importance of desexing and vaccinating your dog as well as responsible dog ownership and care. Most recently we have also begun our "No Parvo No Puppies" Community Desexing and Vaccination initiative, aimed at providing low cost and free desexing, vaccination, flea and worm treatments along with microchipping.
All dogs rescued by Pound Hounds Rescue are desexed, vaccinated, microchipped, registered with Council, health checked and flea and worm treated, then placed into temporary foster care until permanent loving and responsible homes can be found.
